Three Blogging Tips to get your “blog on”:

1. Tweet your blog posts (or articles). Every time you write a new article on your blog, go over to Twitter (you do twitter, don’t you?) and post the title of the article and a link to it at your home page. If you don’t Twitter yet, get started now. It’s microblogging so you only have a few words (140 characters to be exact) to post a tweet. Followers and visitors to your home page can read your updates and if they like what they see will follow you and tell others too.

2. If you want to increase your blog traffic you have to comment voraciously on related blogs and forums. Make sure your comments add value to the conversation (not just, “hey, nice post”), so that when readers visit those blogs they feel compelled to click on your link and “check you out.” This can increase the number of visits to your site and if those new-found visitors like what they see, they too become loyal readers. In fact, I found this tip while surfing a blog and then clicked on the link in the comment and found other great tips on blogging! And I even found a few *women bloggers whose comments I liked and have added them to this list!

3. Something I never thought of was to add a "tell-a-friend" link at the bottom of each page. Some people who visit blogs may not think to share their new findings with their own circles.

Note: Here’s a cool tool I found that can help you stay in touch: RSS responder is a new script that allows you to keep in touch and follow-up with your subscribers without the hassle of email: http://ebizwhiz-publishing.com/rssresponder.htm

Ps. If you are a woman blogger or know women bloggers we should be listing be sure to leave a comment and let us know. We are looking for TEAM bloggers, GREEN bloggers and Women Bloggers to Watch for Fall 2008!

The Passion, Power and Potential of Blogging Interview

Join us on * Wednesday, April 30, 2008 (6:00 PM Eastern Time) (5:00 PM Central, 4:00 PM Mountain, 3:00 PM Pacific)

The Passion, Power and Potential of Blogging from the Founder of PROBLOGGER – One of the Most Popular Blogs in the World with Darren Rowse (This session is a WEBINAR ONLY and not accessible via teleconference)

Darren Rowse is a full time Blogger making a living from this new and dynamic medium from blogs like Digital Photography School. In 2002 Darren stumbled upon an article about ‘Blogging’. He didn’t know it at the time but that moment changed his life. Within 24 hours of reading the article he had started his own Blog called Living Room - a personal blog where he explored issues of Pop Culture, Spirituality and Blogging ever since.

From the experience Darren has since started many other blogs. As his blogs have grown in popularity and generate income, his Blogging journey has taken him from a hobby (some would say an obsession), to a part time job through to a fully fledged business in recent times. Darren slowly built his blogging into a income source that has enabled him to dedicate more and more time to the medium to the point where he is now a full time blogger with ProBlogger.

In 2005 Darren embarked with three others on the biggest blogging project he’d ever done - b5media - a blog network that has hundreds of blogs written by hundreds of bloggers from around the world on a wide variety of channels/verticals. Darren is VP of Blogger training at b5media. Prior to blogging Darren had many interesting jobs including being a youth minister for his church. Darren will be joining us live from Melbourne, Australia.

96 Women Bloggers to Watch for Spring 2008

I love lists... making them, reading them and finding them. And I love reading great articles that can help in with an area of my life I am interested in improving. Blogging is one of them. I read at least two articles every day about blogging and I check out at least a dozen new bloggers a week. So I have mentioned several great women bloggers I have come across since our last list of women bloggers to watch came out and also want to share five articles I found particularly informative.

I got a lot of information from an article written by Lisa Druxman of Entrepreneur.com. She Says, “Whether you start your own or visit someone else's, blogs can help you build the relationships your business needs.” Hurry over to Lisa’s article, “Real Moms do blog” - it is filled with great tips and motivation about why you should start blogging.

Tali presents How Do Small Blogs Make It Big? - The Story of Search for Blogging posted at The Marketer Review, saying, “How do you grow your small blog? A case study.”

The 3 Reasons People Visit Your Blog at Millionaire Secrets - The article suggests how Content, entertainment and people want to get to know you will get people to visit your blog and keep them coming back for more.

If you like adding photos to your blog read 15 Best Image Search Engines to Find Photos Online an excellent resource for finding great images online.

And finally, here's a very ecclectic group of talented women called "96 Women Bloggers to Watch this Spring" - be sure and check them out!

Just How Popular Are You?

I'm talking blogs, of course!

The most popular places in the blogosphere, according to Technorati are those with the most links!

And you thought it was the ones with the most readers! Well, actually, they are the same thing. Because in order to get the "blogferrals" (aka link love), someone's gotta first read your blog and then tell others about it.

Just why would you want "blogferrals?"

Well, if you offer products or services for sale or have affiliate links that generate income, then the more eyeballs that view your blog, the more traffic you generate, the more traffic you generate, the greater your chances of selling something... and so on.

Here are some common blog linking tactics and what they mean:

Trackbacks - one of three types of Linkbacks, methods for Web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking to, or referring to their articles. Some weblog software programs, such as Wordpress, Movable Type and Community Server, support automatic pingbacks where all the links in a published article can be pinged when the article is published. The term is used colloquially for any kind of Linkback (source: Wikipedia)

Comments - are replies or feedback that a reader can leave in response to an entry on your blog.

Social book marks - is tagging websites to save for later viewing to send to a friend. It is like taking the bookmarks in your web browser and sending them out to the web. Social book marks are also a great way too look at what other people have found interesting enough to tag.

Tagging - is organizing content organically and without a pre-determined structure.

Blogrolls - a listing of websites that often appear as links on weblogs. This list of links is used to relate the site owner's interest in or affiliation with other bloggers.

Guest Blogging - "When you guest blog, your blog post is a resume you are putting out to the world that publicly states who you are, what you can do, what you know, why you are good at what you do, and why should people come to visit you for more. " (Source: BlogHerald.com). Check out this list of 11 Blogs that Accept Guest Bloggers.

Blog, RSS directories - is an index directory of weblogs as submitted by their authors. Check out the list of 100 Blog Directories to Submit Your Blog publishes by WE Magazine

For more great ideas on increasing your "blogferrals" read the article 101 Link Building Tips to Market Your Website.

Our Women Bloggers List Grows!

"If you always do what interests you, at least one person is pleased." - Katherine Hepburn

As you know, we have been posting women bloggers for some time now. They come from all walks of life and professional backgrounds. That's what makes this so fun and interesting. In fact, throughout this journey I have met some wonderful women and made meaningful connections.

In fact, during a discussion on LinkedInPowerForum we were asked to list our blogs and I currently have 3 + (3 active and one I have not yet started posting to). Here's what one woman wrote:

"Heidi, I have to tell you - I just moved from running a large technology non-profit association while working at a consulting firm, to working for a start-up, and looking at your list of things makes me feel exhausted! I just checked out your 3 blogs and wow - lots of really great information on there.

I would also encourage you to be a speaker at the
BlogHER conference that began here in SF (and is traveling I believe) because you'd be a great asset to their speaker list."
Kristen Kuhns, Eravita, Inc. - STORY OF MY LIFE - www.storyofmylife.com

This is so exciting because I was just visited BlogHER and plan to be at the convention in July 2008. I invite you to check out Kristen's site, Story of My Life. What a great tool for all of us who wish to continue our legacy. Also, be sure to check out the BlogHER Conference in 2008. I hope to see you there!

As promised, here are a few more women bloggers (20 to be exact) I have found while surfing out and about - more great additions to our list on the Virtual Woman's Blog.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the following:

1st Fridays Blogging for Business October 5th!

You are invited to join 1st Fridayz™ brought to you by The WECAI Network™.

1st Fridayz™ is a 36-hour email networking event that takes place on the eFriday Forum listserv. 1st Fridayz™ begins this Friday, October 5th at 8 AM Eastern Time and goes until 8 PM Eastern Time on Saturday, October 5th. In addition to participating in lively discuss topics of interest to women business owners, professionals and executives. 1st Fridayz™ networking events allows participants to get to know more about the products and services each offers.

Last month we had our first blog showcases and interviews with 4 blog experts. It was wonderful! Everyone who attends the October event will have the opportunity to listen to experts talk about BLOG CARNIVALS as well as HOW TO MONETIZE YOUR BLOG.

The showcase focus for October is blogging, we will ask you to show us your blog as well as answer some key questions such as why you started your blogs, what your goals are, your focus, target audience and what you enjoy most about blogging? We will also want to know what you find to be the most difficult part of starting/maintaining your blog as well as how you promote it. In essence, the October showcases will be mini-interviews.

If you are interested in SHOWCASING, please contact our Showcase Chair Teresa Morrow of Key Business Partners. Her email is KeyBusinessPartners.com@gmail.com.

To attend our event, go to http://listserv.familynet.net/mailman/listinfo/wecai and register.

Because this is an email networking/webinar event you will receive the discussions, questions, answers and introductions via email to your inbox. I recommend you set your email at DIGEST, so you won't be inundated with messages. I also recommend you not use your primary email address if another one is available. This will help you separate your important business messages from the networking event.

Instructions and a networking profile will be sent early next week.

In addition to all this great networking, blog discussions and showcasing, there will be book and prize give-aways throughout the 36-hour event and even a few surprises. BTW, if you attended in the past, you don't have to do re-sign up, just fill out a networking profile before the event! The profiles will be compiled and included in a networking booklet we distribute to all participants.

If you have any questions, please email me at heidi@wecai.org.

Hope to see you there!
