I love lists... making them, reading them and finding them. And I love reading great articles that can help in with an area of my life I am interested in improving. Blogging is one of them. I read at least two articles every day about blogging and I check out at least a dozen new bloggers a week. So I have mentioned several great women bloggers I have come across since our last list of women bloggers to watch came out and also want to share five articles I found particularly informative.
I got a lot of information from an article written by Lisa Druxman of Entrepreneur.com. She Says, “Whether you start your own or visit someone else's, blogs can help you build the relationships your business needs.” Hurry over to Lisa’s article, “Real Moms do blog” - it is filled with great tips and motivation about why you should start blogging.
Tali presents How Do Small Blogs Make It Big? - The Story of Search for Blogging posted at The Marketer Review, saying, “How do you grow your small blog? A case study.”
The 3 Reasons People Visit Your Blog at Millionaire Secrets - The article suggests how Content, entertainment and people want to get to know you will get people to visit your blog and keep them coming back for more.
If you like adding photos to your blog read 15 Best Image Search Engines to Find Photos Online an excellent resource for finding great images online.
And finally, here's a very ecclectic group of talented women called "96 Women Bloggers to Watch this Spring" - be sure and check them out!

Just How Popular Are You?

I'm talking blogs, of course!
The most popular places in the blogosphere, according to Technorati are those with the most links!
And you thought it was the ones with the most readers! Well, actually, they are the same thing. Because in order to get the "blogferrals" (aka link love), someone's gotta first read your blog and then tell others about it.
Just why would you want "blogferrals?"
Well, if you offer products or services for sale or have affiliate links that generate income, then the more eyeballs that view your blog, the more traffic you generate, the more traffic you generate, the greater your chances of selling something... and so on.
Here are some common blog linking tactics and what they mean:
Trackbacks - one of three types of Linkbacks, methods for Web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking to, or referring to their articles. Some weblog software programs, such as Wordpress, Movable Type and Community Server, support automatic pingbacks where all the links in a published article can be pinged when the article is published. The term is used colloquially for any kind of Linkback (source: Wikipedia)
Comments - are replies or feedback that a reader can leave in response to an entry on your blog.
Social book marks - is tagging websites to save for later viewing to send to a friend. It is like taking the bookmarks in your web browser and sending them out to the web. Social book marks are also a great way too look at what other people have found interesting enough to tag.
Tagging - is organizing content organically and without a pre-determined structure.
Blogrolls - a listing of websites that often appear as links on weblogs. This list of links is used to relate the site owner's interest in or affiliation with other bloggers.
Guest Blogging - "When you guest blog, your blog post is a resume you are putting out to the world that publicly states who you are, what you can do, what you know, why you are good at what you do, and why should people come to visit you for more. " (Source: BlogHerald.com). Check out this list of 11 Blogs that Accept Guest Bloggers.
Blog, RSS directories - is an index directory of weblogs as submitted by their authors. Check out the list of 100 Blog Directories to Submit Your Blog publishes by WE Magazine
For more great ideas on increasing your "blogferrals" read the article 101 Link Building Tips to Market Your Website.
To see who made the list of the most popular places on the blogosphere check out this article by Fast Company - The Bigs of the Blogs.

Link love - an Epidemic - Not Yet!
Today I received another great tip from Dina at Wordfeeder during Day 6 of 24 Days of Blogging Fun and decided to visit another blogger listed on her site. So I visited Bonita Shrader's "Superwoman Does Not Live Here!" Blog and left a comment.
That's what I love about blogging. All the great people I meet and the wonderful conversations going on. And I do my best to post a comment or thought on at least one new blog a day. Why? It's a great way increase your own visibility on the net, and you might just meet some people who will become live-long friends in the process.
So my tip today is to participate in some sort of "blog event" such as a blog carnival and get to know some new bloggers. Leave a comment on at least one new blog when you do. Let's start an epidemic by spreading some link love!
Happy blogging,
Heidi

Tagging Women Who Blog!
"I blog for a number of reasons. The primary reason, however, is to create interesting and engaging conversations with the hope that those conversations turn into long-lasting relationships." Duwad Miracle
Today, when I was reading my "Google Alerts" a great idea came into my email. It was called Women Bloggers Doing It For Themselves by CONNECTED INTERNET BLOG.
Roberta is encouraging bloggers to tag 5 female bloggers that they enjoy reading or who are Rockin’ Girl Bloggers. So I am doing the same and tagging 5 of my favorite female bloggers here!
Toby Bloomberg (Bloomberg Marketing)
Yvonne DaVita (Lip-sticking)
Holly Buchanan (Marketing to Women Online)
Mary Hunt (In Women We Trust)
Heidi Casswell (Connect Simply)
Each of these women taught me something important about blogging and friendship. So they deserve to be recognized. Please visit their blogs and say HI! And while you’re at it, subscribe to their blogs.
Oh, and one more thing, if you haven’t yet done so visit BlogHer – the community for women who blog. You can join the community, list your blog and join in the conversations.
Happy blogging… and then some!

Thanks for all the Publicity for Virtual Woman's Day™
"Heidi, I have to tell you... The Womens Virtual Day™ was SOOOO incredible. It was a great way to meet and chat with other amazing women in business. I enjoyed the day so much. I wasn't planning on staying the whole day but I couldn't help myself because the speakers and virtual showcases were all so great and interesting, I couldn't stop listening. I learned so much and found so many other business women to form partnership with because of just one day. Thank you very much for having such a great event...I just can't say enough wonderful things about that day! It combined fun with business - it was fantastic!
